About DTSC
We are a 4th generation family farm owned by Dale and Natalie Thacker, who
have recently been joined by sons Kyle & Gavin. Dale was formerly one of the
three partners of George Thacker Sons, along with his brothers Lynn and Jim.
George Thacker Sons evolved from a family farm that began in 1919 and has been
in the essential oil business for almost 20 years. GTS designed and built a PLC
based automated distillation control system that gives the most consistent
quality control in the industry and is a key component of the facility that DTSC
currently uses.
Our farm and processing facility is located at Bow Island, Alberta.
This Southern Alberta location is known for its long hours of sunlight and
cool evenings during the growing season for ideal growing conditions that
produce premium quality essential oils. Our fields are irrigated with water
that originates in the Rocky Mountains west of our location.
As of January 2007, the GTS partnership was dissolved and purchased by Dale
Thacker Specialty Crops and Lynn Thacker Ag Corp in order to incorporate the
next generation and allow for future growth.
DTSC has a full time agronomist on staff; Gordon Reynolds is a Certified Crop
Advisor with over 30 years experience in crop production. He is responsible for
monitoring the growing and harvesting of the crops and his extensive knowledge
of all aspects of agriculture ensure continued high quality crops produced on
the farm. Dr. Refe Gaudiel is a valuable asset as a consultant and researcher in
the essential oil industry in Canada and continues to work with DTSC to improve
agronomic methods that promote the highest quality of oil production.
DTSC also incorporates precision farming practices with state-of-the-art,
GPS and documentation programs for precise record keeping. As part of our
commitment to environmental stewardship we are constantly seeking ways to reduce
our environmental footprint.
